Quality & Material Documentation

Documentation is not an add-on. Every order leaves with a mill test report that matches the material in the box, traceable to a heat number.

Inspection and documentation

The documentation issued with your order depends on what the contract requires and what the application demands.

DocumentationWhat it confirmsWhen issued
Mill test reportChemical composition and mechanical properties as determined by the millStandard with every order
Independent inspection releaseMill test report confirmed by an independent inspection houseOn request or where the contract requires it
Specific inspectionInspection at a defined frequency against the contract specificationOn agreement
NDT and PMISurface and internal defect assessment, positive material identificationOn application-critical parts

Traceability

Each consignment is linked to a heat number. That heat number follows the material from the mill report through cutting, forming, heat treatment and machining to the finished part, and it appears on the report and on the despatch paperwork.

Third-party inspection

We work with the inspection house your customer nominates — SGS, BV, TUV, Lloyd's, Intertek or a customer-appointed inspector. Release before shipment can be arranged; the cost and the timing are agreed in the order.

Standards we work to

  • EN ISO 6892-1 for tensile testing
  • EN ISO 6509 for hardness testing
  • ASTM A370 for mechanical testing of steel and alloy products
  • ASTM A262, A923 and A1084 for corrosion, defect and ultrasonic assessment
  • PED 2014/68/EU where the application is pressure equipment
  • Material standards as specified on the enquiry: ASTM, EN, DIN and GB/T

Frequently asked

What material certification do you issue?

Every order is supplied with a mill test report covering the actual heat analysis, including the grade designation, the heat number and the chemical composition. Independent inspection release is available where the contract or the end customer requires independent verification.

Can you work to our third-party inspection requirement?

Yes. We accept SGS, BV, TUV, Lloyd's and customer appointed inspection. The inspection release can be arranged before shipment, and the report is issued against the release document.

How do you handle replacement parts for gas turbines?

For gas turbine components we work from the OEM part number and the drawing. We confirm material equivalence, supply the certificate and record the part number on the documentation, so the part is traceable in the same way as the original.

Do you provide PED 2014/68/EU documentation?

Where the application falls under the Pressure Equipment Directive, PED documentation is prepared as part of the order. State the PED category and the harmonised standard on your enquiry.
